Collaboration of Bonheur in Ninohe and SakaMai in New York
We are very excited to announce another special event with Ninohe City Fair! Ninohe is a very small city in Northern Japan where they are famous for Joboji Urushi lacquerware and delicious Nanbu Bijin sake. This time we will welcome the owner chef Koichi Furudate from Bonheur restaurant to introduce the local “Taste of Ninohe”.
Along with Chef Koichi will be chef Akiyama from SakaMai serving his signature dishes. This collaboration is a one-time-only occasion so please do not miss this opportunity. In attendance will also be a very special guest from Ninohe – Kosuke Kuji, the 5th generation president of Nanbu Bijin Brewery. We will feature his Tokubetsu Junmai Sake which was awarded the title of Champion Sake this year from International Wine Challenge.

Owner Chef Koichi Furudate
Chef Furudate was born in Ninohe city, Iwate, Japan in 1975. He studied French cuisine at Tsuji Culinary Institute in Osaka, Japan. After that, he had worked few of French restaurants in the famous hotels in Tohoku area, then in 2007, he decided to open a cozy homelike Yoshoku, Japanized-western restaurant Bonheur in his hometown Ninohe city, Iwate, Japan. Chef Furudate carefully selects local ingredients for people of all ages from kids to elderlies.
