Event Organizer’s Description:
When Taiko and Johnnie reminisce and feel homesick about Japan, izakaya are right at the top of the list of things they miss the most.

Roughly translated, izakaya are “saké pubs,” and they are super casual gathering spots that usually feature beer, saké, and a variety of relatively inexpensive snacks meant to be shared over drinks.

In recent years, quite a few establishments calling themselves izakaya have sprung up in the Seattle area, but in the opinion of many of those who have experienced the “real thing” in Japan, most of them are not quite right.

Issian is a terrific exception to this trend. We discovered this spot while searching for authentic kushiyaki (grilled goodies served on skewers), and since we’ve had such terrific experiences there, we’d like to introduce Issian and their casual cuisine to our nomidachi.

Please make plans to join us on Thursday, April 29 @ 8:30 p.m.for an evening of good eats and tasty premium saké. We’ll be pairing 3 different saké with a set menu displaying Issian’s delicious and diverse wares.

Price for all food, saké, gratuity, and tax is $55/person. Since we will be in a semi-private area of the restaurant, space will be limited to 14 people, and we will hold reservations in the order in which we receive them.

To reserve your spot(s), please contact us as soon as possible (Tel: 206-467-7253; E-mail: [email protected]). We will require a Visa/Mastercard no. and expiration date in order to hold your reservation, but we will not charge the card until the day before the event. Other payment arrangements can also be made upon request.

We’re extremely excited about this event, because since we opened Saké Nomi we’ve wanted to expose interested folks to “other” (non-sushi) Japanese food that is “made” to be paired with our favorite rice-based beverage.

We hope you can join us in raising a few glasses and having some laughs!
