Urban Sake Tasting Note:
stunningly well crafted junmai from Niigata. Gentle rice on the nose and expansive flavors on the palate. Beautifully subdued Niigata style sake.
Oh – and I forgot to mention, that this sake of course goes with Japanese cusisine, but I find it particularly appealing with very fatty fish dishes or tempura veggies (sweet potato is wonderful)
Also, try anything with naturally occuring fats, i.e. avocado. (I am part Mexican, so of course I have to try typical rolls – but I also have tried it with homeade fish/shrimp tacos:
Cod/Shrimp – Fried or Broiled
Avocado
Tomato
Sesame Seeds – sprinkle on top
Garlic Salt
Flour Tortilla – Fry them individually in oil…
wrap, pair with sake…and welcome to my world (prepare to undo a couple of buttons by the way….)
wink!
Currently sipping this baby….
Nougat & custard fullness meets with toasted rice notes. I am drinking this slightly chilled, so there is no astringency at all…this sake is the ultimate medium between feminine & masculine.
What have I paired this sake with?
Mexican Food – Cream Cheese Enchiladas
Italian Food – Sausage Pizza
Eatzi’s Fried Cheesecake – my husband Mike brought it home and I just happened to be reviewing it for an event…so I figured, what the hell… it. was. awsome.
I love my job!
