Sake and Food from the Japanese Organic Farm, “Kanazawa Daichi”

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH, 2010
8:00 PM TO 9:30 PM

Sakagura is very excited to invite Sake Connoisseurs to a Thursday evening tasting event of great sakes and 100% organic rice balls with Kanazawa Daichi from Ishikawa, Japan.

We will welcome Mr. Tatsujio Imura, CEO of Kanazawa Daichi and proudly farmer and Mrs. Chizuko Niikawa-Helton from Sake Discoveries as special SAKE lecturers. Tasting will feature Junmai “Akira” (not to be sold in the U.S. Yet) pure organic sake at three different temperatures.

Akira Imura:
Akira Imura, 68 years old and a father of Tatsujiro Imura, is the chairperson of Kanazawa Daichi. His farming focuses on: safety, affordable prices, and a continuous supply of delicious an stable agricultural farm products. Akira Imura has been farming rice, wheat, soybeans, and vegetables for over 25 years in a large area of reclaimed land known as “Kahokugata”, a suburb of Kanazawa city in Ishikawa Prefecture. Kanazawa Daichi also produces tofu, miso, and soy sauce all made with their organic ingredients and traditional methods handed down for generations. This is Akira’s fifty-second year farming rice. He says there is nothing he would change about his life. He continues to grow harvest rice and keeps a strong connection to the true spirit of farming,
