Sugi | 杉

Sugi or Cryptomeria Japonica tree, commonly referred to as “Japanese Cedar”

Sugi is a fragrant type of wood from the Japanese Cedar or Cryptomeria Japonica tree. This wood is commonly used in the Japanese sake industry for making sake barrels called taru, sake masu boxes, sugidama as well as other tools used in sake making such as kojibuta or bunji.
