Masu | 升

Square box used as a sake cup. Traditionally made from cedar, but also now made from plastic, lacquer or even glass. This square shape was originally used as a measure of rice. A standard masu size has a fluid volume of 180ml/6oz, known as one “go” or ichigo, but masu do come in a wide variety of sizes.
